Looky What I Got! [Just a quick update]

My baby arrived today! Or rather, it arrived at the post office yesterday but due to the fact that it was delivery confirmed and insured for 200+ dollars, I had to sign a few papers and write a few novels to get it! It was packed in a box I wasn't aware anything bigger than a hairbrush could fit in, but I don't mind at all!

Whenever the lady gave it to me I was almost sure that I was getting a package that wasn't my dress! I had to take it to work as I picked it up on the way but being a slow little place that it is I was able to open it and check on the status of my dress [I joked that perhaps the girl had cut it to ribbons in retribution of me getting such a good deal on it and sent it that way].

It is as beautiful as I dared hope! I really do like it. There's a few differences between the JSK and the OP that I was interested to see, but nothing that took away from this lovely piece that I'm ecstatic to have gracing my closet! And Miracle Candy is on it's way!

Building a Kodona Wardobe [Or the easiest way to go into debt]

My Milky Berry OP arrived at the post office today, unfortunately I wasn't home in time to get the package, which was really disappointing to say the least. However I've scored good news in return for a bit of bad: I won an adorable ice cream charm from the Sweet&Tiny contest! I'm so excited about it~! I am also selling off my Pup in the Cup JSK to Jenny!

Since I can't complain too much, I've decided to spend a bit of time assembling a wish list of clothing for Shane's Kodona wardrobe! It's really easy to find off-brand items but I can't help but fall in love with nearly all of the Alice in the Pirates male clothing every time I give it a look! Honestly, I'm not sure why I can spend so much on a dress, but then bite my tongue at the thought of spending so much on a Kodona shirt or vest or jacket.

HMHM has a few pieces that I'd be willing to get through ClobbaOnline that are decently priced and seem well made. The issue with this blouse is that the cravat ruffle isn't detachable and Shane is notoriously picky about his clothing. If he doesn't like the ruffle and it doesn't come off, he won't wear it.

The vest is beautifully made, however before I place any orders to Clobba or anywhere else I want to check the local Antique Mall for items that are capable of being Kodona-ized!

THIS Infanta jacket however, I'm falling all over myself to get him. We bought an Infanta jacket last year of similar design and I've been nothing but completely pleased with it since we received it. It's absolutely gorgeous.

Fan+Friend here has a more childish look that I'm torn about, I'm not sure how I feel about this shirt simply because it does look so young and from what Shane has worn, I'm uncertain on how it'd look on him. Granted, we are planning on adding a second Kodona to our group, the tiniest little girl I've ever seen, she's about an inch taller than me, but only a portion of my width. She's ridiculously tiny.

A KidsYoYo blouse which I bite my tongue at a bit, I love the construction but unfortunately unless I go through TaobaoSpree [whom I've never ordered from] I can only order this blouse through Qutieland and I've dealt with issues concerning them in the past.

Fan+Friend also has a few pairs of shorts that would be acceptable, I suppose. However I'm not a big fan of textured materials [things like velvet, velveteen, corduroy, etc] and I haven't ordered from them in over five years!

Another Fan+Friend pair that I'm on the fence about. There's two styles of shorts I'd like to see Shane in. A pair of shorter almost knee-length shorts, and a pair of past-the-knee ones. However the waist on this just looks odd to me. Perhaps because it's more boxy to fit the male form?

And then my Kodona cocaine: Alice and the Pirates

I have been in love with this coordinate for ages. I love the embroidery on the lapel and on the shorts! The construction looks absolutely breath-taking [it should be for 150 dollars a piece!]

Pretty much you can put me in front of any Alice in the Pirates piece and I will bounce between crying in sheer pleasure at the site, or dying out of necessity to OWN it.

The more I look at these pictures, the more I want to say "Oh f-that" and just buy these pieces! We've put in orders to Baby before with no issue what so ever... perhaps, perhaps. I'll have to talk to Shane about this one. He just winces at the price every time, even though he'll gladly wave me on if I show him a dress worth a few hundred dollars.

It'll just take some work! Both building the wardrobe, talking him into buying from AatPs and overtime at work itself to simply get these items.

The Cast and Crew

I've realized that I've done a few posts that introduce my local lolita group / friends briefly, but I thought perhaps it'd be nice to say a bit more about them and myself!

Starting with your SweetsxHolic blog author, myself:

My name's Kirsty, I generally go by the tag Sweets or SweetsxHolic because that's just who I am, I love dressing up because I love the way Lolita looks on me. I love my wigs almost as much as I love my dresses.

A lot of the pictures I'm going to be putting up are of old Lolita Photoshoots that my local lolita buddies [or local friends who I'm enticing into becoming lolitas] and I threw together, and a lot of the photoshoots contain the same clothes as much of it as my own personal wardrobe that just gets whored around, haha!

I wear glasses normally however I do attempt to go without them and wear prescription circle lenses when I'm in Lolita, sometimes it's just too much work though to do all the falsies and contacts and what not.

This is Lindsey, she's my best friend and the first one to take the reins and build her own Lolita wardrobe. I'm so proud of her, my little Lolita protege!

She's probably one of the few people I hang out with that can bounce from Sweet to Classic to Gothic lolita and look equally good in all of them!

Next to Lindsey in this picture is our friend Kayla, who's the newest inductee into the Lolita ways. She's coming with us to our upcoming local convention; Sakuracon and so we've decided to dress her up in Lolita as well. She's in the process of buying one or two dresses of her own for the convention!

And this is my baby, Shane, we've been together for 3 years and I can't resist showing him off. At first it was me forcing him into Kodona [like this fashion show here] but now he enjoys dressing up as much as I do and we're working on building him a fuller Kodona wardrobe. It's really exciting but incredibly difficult!

He's an absolute sweetheart who tries to buy me things just as often as I'm screaming at him about something that would suit him that's popped up on the comm. We work, we just do.

And then there's our friend Jenny, who is in the process of buying Pup in the Cup off of me to start building her own wardrobe.

Whenever I look back at the conventions we've all gone to together and the meet-ups and the lets'-just-dress-up moments, I can't help but get more excited for all of these people in my life to be decked out in as many frills as I wear. I guess I have my own pack, haha! I love them dearly~!

Outfit Completion Goals

So, as I fall in love with more and more prints, I have to backpedal and remind myself to wait until the dresses I have in the mail arrive before I start buying more stuff, then I need to remind myself to finish accessorizing said dresses before blowing all my money on a new one.

It's really a dangerous cycle.

I am waiting mostly for this OP, which should be in the mail and here tomorrow, which I am SUPER excited about! Coordination with it should be relatively easy, though I am thinking about getting a red cardigan and red tea party shoes to match.

Cardigan/bolero choices:

Angelic Pretty's Present Ribbon Cardigan
Angelic Pretty's Dolly Ribbon Knit Bolero

Bodyline knit bolero

These three appeal to me the most, however I'm more apt to probably get the Bodyline bolero because I'm also looking at shoes [the reviews seem good for Bodyline shoes] and a matching strawberry bag to Lindsey's.

I think this bag is absolutely adorable and for 12 dollars the construction is pretty decent, as I've gotten to give Lindsey's a nice look over before purchasing my own.

I would really like some colored shoes [granted I'm not sure how sound of mind I am, thinking about getting red shoes since I hardly have any other red in my wardrobe, but they are pretty cute!] and these ones are cheap at 19 dollars, and if I do a decent order from Bodyline the 20 shipping will be a steal in comparison to just ordering the purse and paying 32 for it alone!

I have a pair of Secret Shop socks I used to wear with my Pup in the Cup JSK that I think MIGHT possibly match Milky Berry enough that I won't have to buy a new pair of socks.

Hopefully that all comes together well enough that I don't have to spend a ton more money on assembling that outfit.

As for my other item that I'm still waiting on

I am thinking about pairing it with a blue Baby, the stars shine bright knit that I bought on a whim a couple of months back. Unfortunately I can't find a picture of it to share though.

I would like to get a pair of these Secret Shop socks

And if the waist bow is detachable I might make it into a headbow, if not I'll see just how sturdy the construction is, I only spent 100 dollars on the skirt so I'm not too terribly worried about it's resale value.

I'd also like to get my hands on a Dream of Lolita replica purse like this;

Dream of Lolita terrifies me in general, there haven't been too many good reviews on the replica dresses they're producing, but after checking the review on the purses and what not, it seems like they're decent enough quality. And in all honesty there's three things that I don't find worth spending the money on and that's purses, socks, and shoes.

I always manage to trip or scuff up my shoes. My ruffled rocking horse shoes have a nice set of dents in one toe from improper packing and the white 'leather' is kind of dinged up. I can barely warrant spending more than fifty dollars on shoes that I'm horrible at keeping in decent condition.

Purses always seem to get dirty, whether it be because I'm sitting them on a bench or a floor when I do something, or from throwing stuff in and out of them like dirty money, keys, and other things. I just can't bear to buy brand for most of these items [UNLESS they're from lucky packs] and spend 100 to 200 dollars on them and ruin them in a go.

And as for my socks? Well, no one really warned me that my ruffled rocking horse shoes' An-Tai-Na label would color the bottoms of them green... thankfully I noticed it quickly enough that I was able to wash out my Cherry Berry Bunny socks, but it was just a nice warning to myself not to really go for brand for any of these things. I hate ruining things that I spend a ton of money on and unfortunately I am just too clumsy or senseless to keep them in pristine condition.

As for my next purchases after I finish off coordinating my new ones? Someone posted this skirt on the sales community and I thought it was absolutely adorable!
Angelic Pretty's Pastel Ala Mode skirt

I swear this is going to kill me <3 But I might as well build up my Lolita wardrobe before I move again.

Happy New Years! [A Goal Post]

Happy New Year, everyone!

I've decided to do a list of the things I wish to procure for my Lolita wardrobe in the coming year, a nice little goal for myself, right?

- Two unnatural colored wigs
- A pair of tea party shoes in any color
- More Chocomint accessories
- A proper parasol
- Multiple headbows~!
- MOAR PETTICOAT
- More socks
- Of course more JSKs and OPs, but all in due time!

Lolita Meme~!

1. Screen-name and date of birth, please tell us these~
xjust_anotherx on Livejournal, for chats and what not I usually use SweetsxHolic. I was born September 22nd, 1989.

2. Height, weight, clothing size, and shoe size?
I'm between 4'11 and 5'0 and 110 pounds. I wear a size 6? I think... My shoe size is 6 or smaller! I'm a 22cm in Japanese sizes.

3. Why did you start to dress lolita?
Honestly, since I was younger I've been obsessed with Japanese culture, being a social outcast and a nerd kind of helped that! I took two years of Japanese, drowned myself in manga and anime and found out about lolita through friends I met through those interests. I bought my friend off-brand item on my 16th birthday [it honestly didn't go well at all~!] I gave up until I was 18, moved in with a friend who owned their own brand items and fell in love all over again.

4. Which style of lolita do you like?
It really depends on my mood! I love Over-the-top sweet lolita, decora-lolita, etc, but I really love the look and lines of classic as well!

5. Express in your own words, the ideal of your above answer.
OTT Sweet lolita is so sugary that I honestly can't be unhappy when wearing it. I think the mood it puts me in to see it and wear it is what makes me so fond of it!

6. Do you have piercings? Where?
I do, I have a Monroe piercing! I used to have my belly button pierced but that's long gone.

7. Which brands do you like?
Angelic Pretty and Baby, absolutely positively love them!

8. Which are your favourite clothes (that you have)?
Jewelry Jelly op! I absolutely love my JJ, and I'm waiting on a mint Milky Berry <3

9. How many lolita friends do you have?
I have two convertees, four people in my local area, and friends like Holly and Ashlee in the Portland area.

10. What do you love most about lolita?
I love being bright and creative, I love the colors and the happy looks I get from little girls [and boys] that look so happy and amazed to see what is pretty much a princess walk by them~!
